I want to share what I think the face of innocence is. If you don’t
agree with me then I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you think it
is.

The face of innocence is the way I deflect responsibility for my
behavior, thoughts and actions and put them onto someone or something
else. IOW you made me do this instead of taking responsibility for my
own actions and thoughts. It’s the way of projecting my own evilness
onto someone or something else INSTEAD of taking responsibility for my
evilness and letting it be corrected.

I’ll give an example from my own life. I’ve stated this one before
here and I like it as it illustrates the idea. I got cut off by a
driver and screamed an obscenity at them. I felt out of peace, so I
applied ACIM and asked for a different way to see the idiot driver and
was told, well maybe they just didn’t see you. That makes sense to me
and there is no reason to scream at anyone. Next time I’ll try not to,
as it makes no sense to scream at someone for not seeing me.

Okay so how does this relate to the face of innocence? At the start of
this, I was screaming at the other idiot driver because he cut me off.
So I’m in the right, he made me scream an obscenity at him by HIS
actions. Is screaming an obscenity at someone a loving or unloving
thing to do? The face of innocence is about bullshitting myself that
I’m innocent, I’m a loving person but they MADE me do this. A loving
person doesn’t choose the unloving act of screaming obscenities at
anyone. But with the face of innocence it’s okay because he MADE me do
it. Since he MADE me do it, now responsibility for my actions has
switched from me to him. This is the lie of the face of innocence
tells because responsibility for my actions and thoughts is ALWAYS my
responsibility. No matter what happens to me, no matter WHAT anyone
else does, no matter how evil it seems to my ego, my thoughts and my
actions are always my responsibility and no one else’s.

Am I perfect and never get angry or upset? Of course not I’m as human
as the next guy, the question is for everyone, do I cling to my face
of innocence and JUSTIFY my B.S. actions by going on about, yeah but
they did this, they said that and because of my CHOICE to justify my
actions, change of my thoughts and actions has no reason to happen and
can’t happen. Or do I let the face of innocence go and take
responsibility for my thoughts and actions and have the Holy Spirit
correct my mind, thoughts and perceptions so the next time I will
perceive, think and act in a different way.
