Post by HappyDPost by HappyDI just received a message to connect with a Katie Dean in Durham NC on
Linkedin? (lol) oh my god. I guess I know someone who knows her.
Barf (lol)
It wasn't me. Isn't Kinkedin (?) some kind of a business directory, or am
I thinking of something else?
Ya business directory but for what? I don't see it offering any more
of a service than contacts. But so what If i want to connect with
someone I just ask someone for the phone number. As far as i can see
Its a information collection site
Used well, linkedin is a superb business contact networking tool.
When I first heard about it someone said to me it is a social site
looking for a purpose.
Then at one of my business meetings one of our group gave a talk on
how to maximize it's potential which opened my eyes about it.
So now I am a fan and I encourage anyone who is looking to connect
with others in a business sense to learn how to use it effectively.
Give you a live example. Recently I met a business owner who faced a
specific financing problem he was having difficulty resolving. He
asked me about it. I told him I hadn't a clue, but, I would go to my
network and ask.
From sending out a question to my network I got 3 replies from people
who either handled that kind of issue, or who knew someone else who
did. I sent my contact their names, he followed up and met with two
of them, and found one who was able to get him exactly what he was
looking for. Guess who looked like the hero ?
I helped the guy, he knows I helped him, and now he trusts me and we
have established a business relationship. Everybody wins.
And all it took from me was to ask my network. That's just ONE of
MANY examples of how to utilize the power of the social networking
site LinkedIN.
LinedIn is free, fabulous, fast and fun .... the 4F's are doing just
great, thank you !.
And in my own profession the incredible power is in the potential to
obtain referrals coming in to me from those I've helped in some way.
Facebook ? That's something different. I don't participate there.
