I've been seeing these advertised, to use for the daily lessons in the
workbook. You set the timer for whatever the time is (to remember the
lessons) for that day and it goes off to remind you.
Isn't this defeating the purpose of training the mind to remember?
I'm not sure if it actually says not to use mechanical means to remember,
or just implies one should get used to remembering them (on one's own).
With the mechanical timers (some saw a good way to make money with this)
it doesn't train the mind to remember at all. Just to remember every morning
to set up the timer for that days lesson.
Kind of a step in the wrong direction, I think.
But then some seem to think the words of the lessons (memorizing them and
remembering them at specific times of the day) is what matters. Like going
to school, and memorizing facts, to be tested on and get grades. If one uses
a timer, and "says" the lessons all day at the right time, and does this
perfectly for a year, will they get a certificate of some kind (from God?)
saying they have accomplished the goal of the course? (don't let your
batteries die in the timer or you'll have to do it again next year! (LOL)
To me, the whole point (or the main one) of the course is to learn it,
remember it and put it into use in one's life.
What's the point of having beliefs if one doesn't at least attempt to
live them?
