Hope you'll check in when you get your power back.
Wondering just where you are, in relation to the storm? And did you leave or
ride it out?
I found a web cam and chat and spent a lot of time writing to people there
(Australia) and ones from around the world joining in. Some were staying,
and telling what was going on, some with web cams.
I ended up feeling like I had gone there to visit and met a lot of really
nice people. The next day, the power was out but some had posted using
iphones and such saying they were okay. Lot of trees down, roofs gone and
such. The main cam I was watching was Townsville. Pretty place, even with
the wind and rain.

Hay darlin'. We are up on the Atherton tablelands. About 100k as
the "crow's gardening tool" /winks... err... flies, west
south-west of Cairns, directly inland from Innisfail.

Townsville is a great place to hang out for a few days. The
locals are really friendly and always happy to see you. It's a
big army town too, and was the "Big Smoke" up here in the far
north, until Cairns got the international airport instead of them.

But Cairns is a badly planned sprawl these days. Thing is that to
get to FNQ, you have to land there. So it's just keeps getting
bigger. It is really close to all the amazing things to see and
do up here though.

I posted a much longer reply to the original thread. There is a
paragraph or two for you there hon.

Nice, thanks!
I love how we can go travel around and visit and see how things are in
other countries on the coumputer. One time I was looking on Google Earth
over Saudi Arabia, and such, and kept clicking on closeups and getting
pictures of MacDonald's and fast food, etc places.
