Discussion:
The Spiritual Poison in ACIM
(too old to reply)

I've read the urtext of A Course In Miracles.

http://courseinmiracles.com/urtext/

I've read hundreds of posts on this group (most of them in
the archives at groups.google.com) and attended ACIM meetings
locally.

The original channeling was obviously severely corrupted by
the transchannel's addiction to fundamentalist Christianity
(and Christians ignore most of what Jesus taught and distort
most of the rest).

Despite their denial, and even the denial found in the urtext,
one of the dominant messages of ACIM is that life is worthless, a
degraded side trip the spirit has taken. We have supposedly
'fallen from grace', which is an impossibility, although it can
seem like it if you believe garbage like ACIM/Christianity.

This is spiritual, and therefore, physical, poison. The body
is the soul in chemical clothes...the spirit becomes flesh.
Energy changes form.

ACIM spits on the gift of life, which is a gift of God.

Like the doctrines of all religious cults, ACIM contains
some Truth. The Bible does too. The trap is baited.

I am fortunate enough to have a real magical adept as a teacher.
Recently, my teacher assigned me to read ACIM, the Seth Books,
and the works of Carlos Castaneda.

The Seth Books are the only ones of that bunch that contain
the same lessons that I receive from my teacher, in plain
English. And the Truth of these lessons can be verified
through simple observation of reality, within and without,
with an open mind.

The Truth cannot be 'figured out'. It has to be experienced.

That experience can be had by learning this basic meditation:
Sit quietly and close your eyes, and tell yourself that you
can experience the fountain of energy from within that is
the source of your physical life.

Then turn your attention within and free yourself from
concepts.

Keep it up. Be patient. Practice several times a day for as long
as it feels comfortable. There are no standards but your own
feelings.

When you encounter a self-important windbag like "John R..."
you are dealing with a wannabee. Another book-mage. Soemone
who just parrots what he believes is wisdom from some book
or website.

(One of the gurus that Carrie says should be shunned, although
she apparently doesn't have the strength to heed the advice of
her inner teacher.)

Such fools are to be ignored. Just as I will ignore his
responses to this, regardless of which alias he is hiding
behind at the moment.

The Seth Books are:

Seth Speaks

The Nature of Personal Reality.

The Unknown Reality (2 volumes)

The Nature of the Psyche: Its Human Expression

The Individual and The Nature of Mass Events

Dreams, Evolution and Value Fulfillment (2 volumes)

The nominal author is Jane Roberts. A good channel
but a poor student of the Seth Material she channeled.
----------------------------------------------------

There is much more to the Seth Material. See:

http://www.sethlearningcenter.org

Warning: I have explored a number of Seth Material
forums on the Web. Most of the discuss a watered-down,
fluffy-bunny version of the Seth Material and are
a waste of time.

Just read the books and do the exercises therein.

If an individual sees only evil and desolation in the physical world,
it is because he is obsessed with evil and desolation and projects
them outward, and closes his eyes to all else. If you want to know
what you think of yourself, then ask yourself what you think of
others, and you will find your answer.

LOL:

You cannot escape your own attitudes, for they will form the nature of
what you see. Quite literally you see what you want to see; and you
see your own thoughts and emotional attitudes materialized in physical
form. If changes are to occur, they must be mental and psychic
changes. These will be reflected in your environment. Negative,
distrustful, fearful, or degrading attitudes toward anyone work
against the self.

I have 4 of the Seth books and have been involved with a Seth Group
online (left because of the arguing, which seemed to get off topic and
become personal) I got out the books I have a few days ago, with the idea
of reading them again, maybe looking thiings up, maybe you would post quotes
or concepts, etc. that I could look up and find out more about.
But I realized, after reading your posts here and how you talk to me
(and others) and how you treat them, I don't want anything to do with Seth
books. If you are an example of someone who has read them, studied them and
puts what you have learned from them into your life. I wouldn't want to
risk becoming the same way.
If you want people to learn from you, try being an example of what you
want, and think they should learn.
You are using the Seth books more as a weapon, than a recommendation
for people to read and learn from.
I don't think that's what they are, but I once heard Marianne
Williamson talking about it, on one of her tapes (years ago) saying how
people aren't open to learning anything from someone, when they feel they
are being attacked, put down, lectured, being "yelled at".
If you read, study, believe in the Seth books, and you are an example
of what this creates, it's not something I want to get back into. Maybe why
I didn't stick with it the first time I came across Seth.
If you think they teach something other than what you have been an
example of, maybe you should read them (and do the exercises) again,
yourself.

I shouldn't and it isn't, but being human I sometimes do.
At least, at some point, I'm aware of this.

What does your teacher (and Seth) say about pushing one's beliefs on
everyone else?
Isn't it more of an "Inner" thing? Do you need every one other person to
agree with you, in order to believe and trust what you believe is right for
you?
Does even one person who differs with you threaten what YOU believe is
true and right for you? Make you doubt it, yourself?
