Occasionally, this comes up like it's a bad thing. "Don' be a pollyanna".
Don't look for the good and be glad and grateful and appreciate what we
have. Be miserable and create more misery? What's the point of a life like
that? I think what they might be trying to say is don't gloss over problems
and not deal with them. But, dealing with them by focusing on them, and not
seeing the good and positive and what one DOES have which might actually do
some good in feeling better and creating better. Falling into the depth of
despir because "it's how life is" isn't really productive. Finding something
good, no matter how tiny, to build on, seems much more productive (in life)
Pollyanna is online (many places) one:
http://www.literaturepage.com/read/pollyanna.html
I think I have posted the link to this and witten about it before and it
was ignored.
Which is okay, just because others don't agree (and talk about it)
doesn't mean they are wrong. Everyone is creating their own life (and
overall, in the context of that, the world around them) and can certainly
create it any way they want.
